Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actress singer and dancer. She began her Broadway career in musicals, including Wicked Legally Blonde, as well as Hair. She was awarded the Tony Award for Best Featured actor in the Play to play Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashford, Tony Award winner actor has worked with a variety of well-known directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford continues to build on her award-winning career with her upcoming projects. Ashford is scheduled to be as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani as part of the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford is currently working in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust alongside Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch Bachrach. The film is scheduled to stream through Disney's DTC platforms as a Hulu Original. Ashford will return in 2023 and will play opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton is the director of the show. Ashford was last seen in the role of Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment. The show centers around the National Crisis that saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp at the center of the first impeachment proceeding in America in Over a Century. For two seasons, she was a star of CBS's hit comedy B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. The show featured Linda Lavin Sheryl Crow, Hector Elizondo as well as Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the character that was originally played by Lauren of Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway performances. Ashford is from the city of Denver origins native, and now splits his time in Los Angeles.
